Aim
The objective of this chapter to provide students with a theoretical understanding of the interdisciplinary skills in leadership, team management and networking that allow researchers to carry out successful research. Problem-based exercises shall allow students to effectively build those skills and self-reflect and assess in those areas.
Summary
Successful research in the 21st century hinges on two factors: its essential scientific quality and researchers’ soft skill set that allows them to fund, lead and publicize the project. This new interdisciplinary chapter should provide students with a global understanding of potential European resources for funding a trial, regulations and the application process, team management, communication and leadership skills, an overview of European scientific networks and a preparation for publicizing activities, such as public speaking exercises, presentations, and the role and means of popularization activities, both on and off-line.
